Interior Style - Classic

Our Classic theme is all about the details – from elegant furniture shapes and ornate lighting to thoughtful layers of colour and pattern. Timeless and refined, it’s the ultimate choice for those who favour quality over quantity, and who enjoy nothing more than entertaining in style.

Create a feeling of comfortable luxury with beautifully crafted furniture, rich timbers, botanical patterns, and a palette of quiet neutrals complemented with accents of navy and charcoal. Careful styling is key; furniture and decor pieces should be positioned in a balanced way to create a sense of symmetry, and clutter kept to a minimum to evoke an oh-so-serene vibe.

“Nearly every aspect of this look involves some sort of layering, whether it’s layers of colour, pattern or texture, resulting in a home that radiates cosy opulence. Your guests will never want to leave!”

Create the look

Exterior colours

Create a lasting impression with rich brown feature 50-millimetre brickwork on your facade, smooth greige render, accents of warm, mid-tone timber, and architectural detailing such as decorative posts and trims in crisp white. For a touch of traditional charm, consider adding sections of white-painted weatherboard. Don’t forget to step up the look of your entry door and hardware to reinforce the look.

Interior flooring

This look calls for a classic-meets-contemporary foundation, such as chevron or herringbone timber parquetry flooring, or highly reflective stone-look tiles in a neutral tone such as beige or a soft Carrara marble pattern, topped with subtly patterned silk rugs. For bedrooms, studies, and other quiet spaces, opt for wall-to-wall-carpet in muted grey or light cream.

Feature lighting

Think of lighting as jewellery with this look – that perfect finishing touch that brings your scheme together. It should be layered and considered, and might include beautifully shaped pendants in aged bronze, brass, glass or black iron above the kitchen island and dining table, artwork lighting, ornate wall sconces in bedrooms and bathrooms, and sculptural lamps with drum shades in living spaces.

Kitchen styling

Cabinetry is a focal point in a Classic kitchen; set a characterful tone with Settler profile (classic shaker) doors with decorative chrome handles and pull knobs. When it comes to cabinetry colour, think timeless combinations such as navy and white, or pale grey and charcoal.

Dial up the luxury with Carrara-marble effect benchtops that extend to your splashbacks (or add a chevron mosaic-tiled splashback to create some contrast), and a beautifully formed pewter tap. Finish off with tailored bar stools in a colour that contrasts with your island so they really stand out.

Bathroom bliss

Carry the polished feel through to your bathrooms with profiled doors in ivory, cream or soft grey, topped with marble-effect benchtops. Run opulent, glossy tiles in a gentle, neutral shade right from floor to ceiling, or create some drama with a wall of marble mosaics in a herringbone or chevron pattern. Break up the hard lines with a round, framed mirror, decorative wall sconces and, if space allows, a sheer white pleated curtain.

Furniture & Styling

Seek out furniture with an elegant, bespoke feel, such as sofas and armchairs with tailored skirts, button detailing or piped edging, adorned with plump scatter cushions in a mix of solid hues and painterly floral prints in fabrics such as velvet, chenille and silk. Place furniture in a symmetrical layout facing a clear focal point, such as the fireplace.

Add depth to walls with fine pinstripe wallpaper, a woven covering, or painted v-groove panelling. Introduce layers of interest and luxury with decorative mirrors, marble-topped side tables, crisp linen bedding and interesting lighting.
