Creating an Inviting Guest Room

by Carlisle Homes

Gone are the days when fresh sheets and a pillow were considered a luxury while travelling. These days a guest room, in most contemporary homes, has a right-royal-air about it, and a stylish space for guests is now considered a necessity.

A well thought out design, will ensure the area (which will most probably only be used occasionally) has a tranquil sensibility in regard to the detail. So, keeping it simple and fuss-free, usually works best. Or you could go all out and create an unforgettable experience for your guests.

Bedazzling Bedding

Guest rooms are all about a comfortable bed adorned with crisp linen and combined with simple accents. Super soft, reversible bedding works very well, as does classic white. Plump pillows and sumptuous throws will ensure your guest room exudes simple, but stunning elegance.

Devil’s in the detail

Shelves, mirrors, fur throws, picture frames and quirky one-off trinkets (like an antique phone), or artwork, will help set the tone for your guest room retreat. Create an atmosphere with accents that reflect your home and personal style, to maximise the wow factor for a room that will be appreciated by others when they drop in to stay.

Restful Relaxation

Subtle tones work well and help wash your senses clean. But bold bedding choices in classic monochromatic hues, united with simple accents of cooper and brass, plus (on trend) pops of live green colour, help create a “boutique hotel” ambience to.

Colour pop statements

Be brave and splash colour around in the guest room with individual statement pieces that give your space a sherbet twist. Fresh flowers, statement chairs, lamps, wallpaper and chandeliers - paired with “in vogue” fur rugs and cashmere throws, all add texture and style to the guest room. Pillows, in all kinds of funky fabrics and shapes, will have your guest’s daydreaming about another visit long after they have left your home.
