Holi, the festival of colours, is one of the most vibrant celebrations in the Hindu calendar. Marking the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil, Holi is a time for joy, laughter, and, of course, lots of colour! This year, Holi falls on Friday, 14th March, and what better way to celebrate than by bringing the festivities right into your home?

Rather than navigating crowded events, hosting Holi at home means you can personalise the experience—decorate to your heart’s content, cook up festive delicacies, and create cherished memories with loved ones.

Carlisle Homes’ sales consultant Gurwinder Randhawa has shared his special Thandai recipe. Enjoy making this chilled drink with your family, the perfect way to cool down after an exciting day of celebrations!

Setting the Scene for a Colourful Celebration

Transform your home into a Holi wonderland with bright marigolds, roses, or artificial flower garlands, colourful scatter cushions, throws, and table linens in vibrant shades, and string lights or paper lanterns to add a festive glow. Set up a dedicated Holi station in your backyard with bowls of organic, washable coloured powder for easy access.

Fun Holi Activities for the Whole Family

Holi is all about playfulness and togetherness. Use organic, skin-safe Holi powders and let the colour war begin! Encourage guests to wear white so the colours truly pop. Add to the excitement with a water balloon fight using biodegradable balloons, or get creative with DIY rangoli using colourful powders or flower petals. A Bollywood dance party with energetic beats is the perfect way to round off the festivities.

A splash of colour is all you need for a fun-filled Holi celebration! Grab some washable powder and let the vibrant festivities begin.

Protecting Your Home & Furniture

With all the colour and water, a little preparation goes a long way in keeping your home pristine. Keep the festivities outdoors to minimise mess indoors, cover outdoor furniture with old sheets or plastic covers, and set up a hand-washing station with towels and wipes for guests to freshen up. Have a basket of spare sunglasses available to protect guests’ eyes from powder.

Holi Feasting: Must-Try Treats

No Holi celebration is complete without a spread of delicious food. Serve crispy samosas, deep-fried pakoras, fragrant biryani, syrupy Gulab Jamuns, and a fresh fruit platter for easy, festive snacking.
