A Message from Caesarstone on Engineered Stone
by Caesarstone
As a valued partner of Caesarstone and in light of the Australian Federal Government's announcement to ban engineered stone containing crystalline silica from 1st July 2024, we wanted to assure you of our ongoing commitment to the safety of stonemasons, our dedication to customer service, as well as the continuous development of market-leading surfaces.
We understand these government announcements will have a significant impact on your business. Our aim is to help you navigate these changes as seamlessly as possible to ensure your continued success.
In the transition period, from now until 1st July 2024 the sale and installation of mineral surfaces, including our extensive low silica range will continue.
There are several matters that remain to be resolved by the Government, including clarification on existing contracts being installed after 1st July 2024. It is also important to note that not all states and territories are aligned on the timings of the transition period. We will provide updates as soon as we get further information.
As part of our commitment to continuous innovation, we are implementing a plan to transition our current, market-leading design collection to a new crystalline silica-free formulation which will retain the same ease of fabrication and functional performance characteristics as current materials.
This new material will launch in Australia in the first half of 2024. By replicating the current design collection into our new product formula, we’ll be matching the majority of existing colours allowing you to seamlessly specify based on current sample books and samples. Of course, we'll communicate throughout 2024 as the designs are transitioned to give you absolute clarity and confidence.
In addition, Caesarstone will introduce new designs into our Porcelain collection in the first half of 2024. Our Porcelain brings additional functional performance to kitchen benchtops as well as being UV resistant and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
We will continue to advocate for a safer industry by providing information and training on safer work practices and systems for all industry workers. As always, our teams are on hand to support you, please don’t hesitate to request their assistance.
Lastly, to help people navigate these changes, we have and will continue to publish updates and FAQs on our website so customers can feel assured with their existing, or new Caesarstone surfaces.
Yours sincerely,
David Cullen
