Modern, rustic and oh-so-cosy – our Dane interior style is the perfect way to give your family home that warm and welcoming feel.

If you want your home to feel irresistibly cosy and inviting, our Dane interior style is a great place to start. Mixing classic patterns and warm, natural colours with simple furniture shapes and accents of bold black, it’s an appealing blend of modern and rustic that feels both timeless and right on-trend.

You can see how the Dane interior style looks and feels in real life by popping along to our Crompton 29 display home at Aurora Estate in Wollert, where every room in the home has been given the contemporary-meets-country treatment.

In the meantime, here’s how to create the look:

Rich, earthy tones

Create a strong foundation by filling your interior with deep, nature-drawn tones such as chocolate brown and charcoal on upholstered furniture and rugs, warm greige on the walls and curtains, rich timber joinery, and accents of tan and ochre in your artwork, throws and scatter cushions.

Then bring in a modern edge with black picture frames, matt-black décor pieces and seating with slender, black frames.

With its deep, earthy tones and chunky textures, our Dane interior style is an appealing blend of rustic and contemporary – and it’s a look you’ll never tire of coming home to.

Leather accents

Nothing says enduring style quite like leather – and it’s the ideal way to bring a little rugged elegance to the Dane style.

Introduce the classic material through statement pieces that instantly draw the eye, such as a trio of leather bar stools at the kitchen island or a pair of armchairs in the formal lounge. Choosing a classic saddle tan tone will instantly brighten your scheme.

Vintage and aged leather pieces also work well with the Dane style, injecting character and a sense of history into your interior. Try a retro leather sofa in the theatre room or a lovingly worn leather ottoman in the lounge.

Tons of texture

Emphasise Dane’s earthy, natural feel and add visual interest by mixing up different textures. Think cotton/linen-mix sofas, chunky throws, a boucle occasional chair, woven rugs and pendants, and textural sheers at the windows.

And don’t be afraid to introduce a little texture in unexpected spots, such as an eye-catching, kit-kat tiled splashback in the kitchen or a gorgeous, felted wallpaper behind the bed in your master suite.

Classic patterns

The Dane style calls for timeless patterns, such as stripes, plaids and checks, which you can use across bedlinen, floor coverings and scatter cushions.

When it comes to the colour of your patterns, take your cues from other tones in the space to create a cohesive feel. And remember – the bigger the pattern and more vibrant the colour, the bolder the energy they will create. For a more low-key effect, dress your home with smaller-scale patterns and softer hues.

Dial up the cosy factor in your formal lounge with rich timber tones, leather seating, and scatter cushions in classic plaid, then add touches of black for a modern edge.

Supersized artwork

Go big when it comes to art, with oversized, abstract artworks in a mix of black, white, and the rich, earthy tones in the rest of your scheme.

Make your art arrangements feel curated and intentional by keeping the size and framing consistent (simple, black frames work a treat with the Dane style). And while a pair of artworks hung side-by-side above a bed or sofa is sure to look beautiful, don’t feel the need to restrict yourself to this arrangement; hanging a pair of artworks vertically alongside a doorway or a favourite piece of furniture can be extremely effective.

Or, for added appeal, look to hang one or two pieces in unexpected parts of your home, such as the kitchen, ensuite or your entry hallway.

You can see our gorgeous Dane interior style on display at our Crompton 29 display home at Aurora Estate, 15-21 Gem Parade, Wollert 3750. We’re open 7 days a week from 11am-5pm, so make a time to come and see us!
