Dulux Colour Trends 2023: Revive, a Playful, Bright Palette.
by Carlisle Homes
After a challenging couple of years, we’re ready to welcome playful colours and fun patterns into our homes in 2023, say Dulux trend forecasters.
There’s nothing like colour to bring joy into our homes – and in 2023, we can expect to see a lot of it, according to paint experts Dulux. One of three palettes in the Dulux Colour Forecast 2023, the Dulux Revive palette is a collection of uplifting hues such as rose pink, emerald green, breezy blue and burnt orange that are guaranteed to elevate any room.
“As we emerge from trying times, we’re looking for lightness and a sense of freedom to revive our spirits. So, when it comes to our homes, it’s out with the rule book, and in with the possibilities to create something truly magical,” says Andrea Lucena-Orr, Dulux Colour and Communication Manager.
Here, our interior designers share smart styling tips for making the Dulux Revive colours work in your own home.
Go big or go home
Make a nod to the ’80s and a wink to the ’60s by colour blocking adjoining walls in your living room or bedroom with a contrasting hue on the ceiling. Try pairing tonal yellows such as Dulux Day Glo and Dulux Golden Sand on the walls with a soft lilac such as Dulux Perplexed on the ceiling. In your main bedroom, consider a soothing green such as a Dulux Diorite behind your bed, and a rich green such as Dulux Pharaoh’s Gem overhead.
Paint your front door
Nothing says welcome home quite like a brightly coloured front door. Give your entrance a lift by painting your front door in a cheery rose such as a Dulux Pink Chi. Carry it through with a rosy floor runner, and hallway art featuring soft pinks such as Dulux Pink Princess or harmonising blues such as Dulux Breezy Half and Dulux Integra.
Add chubby furniture
Set the scene for fun (and create the perfect Instagrammable moment) with statement seating and accessories, such as a chunky, curved sofa in cornflour blue or deep plum, a voluptuous ottoman in earthy mustard, and a super-size, contemporary floor lamp in the family room, or an arched bedhead in tonal, rainbow-like hues in your master bedroom.
Mix unexpected patterns
With the Dulux Revive palette, you can forget the rules when it comes to mixing patterns and embrace your inner maximalist. Have fun combining thick stripes, geometrics, oversized floral prints and more – all in the one space. The bolder the better!
Introduce grounding touches
You may find that an overload of bright colours and bold patterns quicky overwhelms your interior. Balance them out by adding a few natural touches, such as timber flooring, a woven rug in a neutral hue, a wooden coffee table or bedside table, stone benchtops, or an organic-tiled splashback in the kitchen. Finish off with a few lush indoor plants – trailing from open shelves, clustered in the corner of the room or grouped together on your coffee table.
