Here our design experts share their ‘must know’ top 4 tips on preparing to select colours and products for your new home.

TIP #1: Be inspired

Having a vision of what you want your new home to look like is a great starting point. There are many styles of homes available from Hamptons to Contemporary to Resort style living. Identifying a style you love will help make your product and colour selections consistent throughout your home and the selection process easier.

Once you find inspiration, create mood boards online or in a look book, these references will assist you and your consultant in finding the right style and colour palette for your home.

Looking at other people’s homes in house and design magazines can provide lots of ideas. When you find colours, products or a room you like, simply tear out the pages and add them to your look book. Starting with flooring and kitchens is a great place to start as these tend to be the anchor of the home.

There are many resources available online - search for inspiration on platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest creating folders to save the images.

TIP #2:  Visit display homes

Nothing can compare with physically walking through a Carlisle home.

Getting up close and personal with a display home is a great way to identify your style and see all the detail, such as flooring, kitchens, interior colour schemes and exterior facades. With display homes located throughout Melbourne and Geelong, you can take the opportunity to view a variety of homes in person.

Top tip: Take photos of everything you like inside and outside the display homes, keep these photos in a folder on your phone to show your consultant.  Be sure to also capture the home design as we have the selections of all of our displays in SPECTRA. 

TIP #3: Take the tour
