Three Ways to Get a Beautiful, Contemporary Bathroom

Here are three ways to create the timeless, modern bathroom of your dreams, key colours and fixtures included!

A well-designed bathroom isn’t just beautiful to look at, it’s a pleasure to use. Calm and inviting, it creates a practical spot to get ready in the morning and a delightful sanctuary to unwind in at the end the day.

A striking vanity is the centrepiece of most contemporary bathrooms and is a great starting point to build your scheme around. Here, we share the key ingredients in the three stunning modern bathrooms on display at our Spectra Showroom, each one designed around a show-stopping vanity. Creating your dream bathroom has never been easier.

1. A Natural Touch

Evoke calm, natural vibes with a soothing green colour scheme, accents of black and timber, and matt finishes.

In this bathroom display, we’ve used Laminex Green Slate AbsoluteMatte finish on the cabinetry fronts, and Laminex Black Nuance to line the open shelves. For some contrast, we’ve chosen Caesarstone Fresh Concrete, with its subtle grey tones, for the benchtop.

Matt black tapware (Phoenix Rush Basin Mixer in Matte Black) and curved, minimalist handles (Hafele Black 106.69.404 handles) add a contemporary edge to the space, while creating a visual connection with the shelves. We’ve also included a rectangular semi-inset basin with slightly rounded edges in crisp, glossy white (Decina Carina basin in White Gloss).

Soft grey, stone-look wall tiles (Beaumont Tiles Timeless Ceppo Gris Polished porcelain tiles) bring a sense of luxury, but their large format makes them easy to keep clean.

Pair this look with warm, oak-look flooring in a durable, water-resistant finish such as Coretec Naturals Timber hybrid flooring. Alternatively, carry the stone look through to your floors with Beaumont Tiles Belga Grey Matt 1202675 floor tiles.

2. Hotel-Like Luxury

Bring the five-star look of your favourite hotel suite into your home with this beautiful bathroom scheme.

Start with a floating, wall-mounted vanity to enhance the sense of space and opulence. Specify drawer fronts in a deep, saturated grey woodgrain (Laminex Terril PureGrain), paired with sleek, minimalist drawer pulls in matt black (Hafele Matte Black 155.02.390 pulls). Contrasting the deep-grey drawer with a section of open shelving in timber (Laminex Natural Walnut Chalk finish), as we’ve done here, adds instant character.

A creamy benchtop with flecks of charcoal (Caesarstone Georgian Bluffs) – topped with a pair of elegant, above-counter, his-and-hers basins (Seima Plati 500 basins in White Gloss) – gives you a luxurious place to spread out your beauty essentials.

To balance out the rich-toned cabinetry, we’ve chosen light-enhancing, brushed nickel tapware (Phoenix Mekko Vessel Mixer in Brushed Nickel), creamy, stone-look walls tiles (Beaumont Tiles OmniStone Grey Silk porcelain tiles), and water-resistant, timber-effect flooring.

3. Modern Coastal Vibes

Layers of soft grey, v-groove panelling and timber are just the thing to set a cool, coastal mood in your bathroom.

Take your cues from this tranquil bathroom scheme by choosing a warm grey colour for your vanity (Laminex Formwrap in Lava Grey Satin finish), with end panels in a textured, v-groove profile (Laminex Lava Grey in Newport finish). Top it with a creamy benchtop with flecks of charcoal (Caesarstone Georgian Bluffs), installed with a shadow edge in warm woodgrain (Laminex Avignon Walnut) for a subtle but effective touch of interest.

For the larger expanses of space – the floor and walls – choose materials inspired by nature, such as the light oak-look flooring and gently textured, stone-effect wall tiles (Beaumont Tiles Rock Salt White Gold Structured Matt tile) we’ve used here.

Finally, add a modern edge with a slender black shower frame and matching vanity tapware (Alder Maxx Basin Mixer Black), classic D-shaped handles in a smooth, titanium finish (Hafele Titanium Coloured 110.29.556 handles), and a pair of clean-lined, rectangular semi-inset basins (Fienza Petra White Gloss).
