Point Cook Bulldogs bark for joy over their jumpers!

by Carlisle Homes

Carlisle Community Grant recipient, Point Cook Junior Football Club has put their $8,349 grant to good use straight away for the 2016 season!

Located within one of the west’s largest growth corridors, the Point Cook Bulldogs have seen rapid growth in their player and supporter numbers over the past 10 years. Back in 2004 they fielded five teams with 110 players, fast forward to 2016 and they proudly catered for over 500 players ranging from under 8 right through to youth girls and the ‘mature age’ Super Rules participants.

Back in the beginning, the AFL Western Bulldogs supplied the junior jumpers, giving the club a flying start. And, while these jumpers have definitely served them well, they have taken a beating from hundreds of enthusiastic juniors! Now as an established club, the committee at the Bulldogs saw a great opportunity in the Carlisle Community Grants program to have their juniors fitted out with new playing kits.

‘Without the generosity of Carlisle Homes, Point Cook Bulldogs quest to have all junior teams fitted with new jumpers may have been a year or two away. Now, going into season 2017 all junior teams will bear our fresh new design’ – Football President Anthony MacGibbon

After being presented with their grant by Shane Crawford in April this year, the club commenced a collaborative design process focused on retaining their heritage while stamping a new start for the junior club members. The new jumpers have been a resounding success at the club as the 2016 season draws to a close.

‘Getting involved in the grass roots development of new communities is a great opportunity for our team to really engage with our customers on a whole different level’ – John Doulgeridis, Director Carlisle Homes.

The Carlisle Community Grants program contributes up to $50,000 per quarter to local sporting and community not-for-profit groups. To date we have provided a great start to many worthy applicants with over 47 grants totalling $413,158.

The current cycle for Community Grants is open for applications until September 30, read more.
